Jia Kang

I earned my bachelor's degree in Information Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 2019, and my master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University, New York, US, in 2021. My past research experiences were mainly about biomedical image analysis, such as exploring neuron connectivity maps of mouse brains with microscopic images, and lumen/wall volume ratio detection of pulmonary vessels in CT scans. These experiences of studying the detection methods for vasculature and cells really appealed to me and led me to further Ph.D. training at Dr. Siekmann's lab. Here I will combine my quantitative background with the angiogenesis challenges, and investigate how blood vessels obtain their proper sizes.
